Life is wonderful with sports, and autumn is gorgeous with passion. At 8:30 am on October 19th, the opening ceremony of HFU’s 18th Track and Field Sports Meet was held at the university stadium.
Accompanied by “The March of the Athletes”, the University National-flag Team entered first, holding the National Flag. Following were the teams of secondary colleges, international students and graduate students. Their neat pace demonstrated well the spiritual appearance of the whole university.
Liu Jianzhong, Vice Chair of the University Council, delivered an opening speech. He emphasized, sports will help to realize the dream of national prosperity and national rejuvenation; always adhering to the student-oriented concept, with “health first, lifelong sports” as the goal of sports work, HFU constantly promotes the reform of PE teaching club, so that HFU students can find suitable physical exercise programs to take delight in, cultivate their health awareness, learn exercise methods, and promote their spirit of sports; the reform of HFU PE teaching club has achieved remarkable success, students having won many awards in various international and domestic sports competitions; sports will not only strengthen students’ physical fitness, but also enrich the campus life, and inject vitality into HFU’s various undertakings and its construction of a high-level applied university. Finally, he wished this sports meet a great success, and called on the students to enjoy the fun, temper the fighting spirit of striving for the best in the competition, and interpret the meaning of mutual help and win-win life in the cooperation of concerted efforts.
Various sports clubs brought wonderful artistic performances for the teachers and students. Dragon-lion Dance and martial arts were first performed. HFU president, Wu Chunmei dotted the eyes of the “Dragon” and “Lion”. Dance, yoga, and cheerleading interpreted the beauty of youth, rhythm and vitality, fully demonstrating the effectiveness of PE teaching.
At the end of the opening ceremony, Wu Chunmei announced the beginning of HFU’s 18th Track and Field Sports Meet, which will last for two days, with a total of 536 student athletes competing in 29 events.
